| If we're going to discuss economics it would be good to be accurate with our depiction. A shrinkage in savings doesn't necessitate a reduction in company profits. Savings is a buffer to spending; a reduction in spending could reduce profits but that depends on a lot of things. It depends on whether people change demand on elastic items, it depends on the industry e.g. the gun and ammo industry had a huge increase in sales during a recession. It's important to identify why the recession happened in the first place but this is based on axioms and research that many people reject, i.e. the hand of the market, structural unemployment.Based on those axioms the market (the aggregate choice of everyone who is involved in the economy) slowly shifted away from certain industries. Once the shift passed the point of no return a company fails and those people become structurally unemployed and get new jobs.Assuming a failing economy is an "avalanche" that needs to be stopped is a false analogy. Even during the heat of the banking crisis while the biggest bankruptcy in history was happening, other banks were doing successful and buying the failing banks. The mechanism, which is another axiom and research field that some people reject, is competition and deregulation. Allowing deregulation means new players can enter a market and compete with others. Increasing regulation means existing players have an easier time staying around so they have no incentive to be competitive and have the best interests of the customers in mind.Government spending doesn't exist in a vacuum. Every dollar spent by the government is a dollar taxed. There are graphs as to who's taxed how much but basically taxation hits middle income by the biggest dollar amount and affects poor people in the most life-threatening ways. Taxing corporations necessarily means their prices will increase. Increased prices means it's harder for the poor to live. Basically the government fiddling with the economy at very best will do nothing and will do varying degrees of harm. |

Well, he did use an awful lot of big words. I pretty much just inserted random substitutes for every word I did not understand. I dugg him down because I do not see how devotion to crispy bacon has anything to do with this article..
Always found it striking how Christian fundamentalists in the US have no problem with trying to impose Biblical Law at home, but suddenly have a problem with it when the Muslims do it. Funny thing is, there really isn't that much of a difference between Biblical Law and Sharia Law, they are both irrational, intolerant, and outdated. Nobody should take their holy books literally. They make great stories, but they are not history or science.!

Seems to me we don't need legislation to fix this problem. For example, I have no credit cards (no CC companies to screw me) and my local credit union has notified me twice that my debit card number was compromised, while sending me a new card automatically (all within 5 days of them learning the info was compromised). There are companies out there with great notification procedures. I suggest everyone abandon the companies that don't, because they aren't offering you the best service you could get. The *first* time you get a letter that says "two months ago your info was compromised" why not move accounts immediately? After a while of people doing this the company will either change their evil ways or run out of customers. Or... maybe the customers just don't care enough to put the effort in and find a better bank??

They are not ALL "lost" they just don't have a single list that has all the different state agencies buildings on it. Most of the 18000 buildings are accounted for on at least one of the governments departments, But their had been no need to have a central database. Complicating the matter not every agency can be 100% certain of it know about all of it's buildings because some are out of use and might not be habitable anymore, and or even could not exist anymore if the land was subject to flooding or erosion. So you might need to research each agency's records to find out if you are missing properties.Ex: if the state built, in a remote part of the keys, a signal relay station for ships in the 1920's and then it became unnecessary because of the better radios then they might have closed it up and over the years forgot about it, after most of it was destroyed in a fire/flood/meteorite strike/gozilla attack/..etc

Your numbers are vague, and not those that reflect the ones actually in play in the health insurance reform debate.

Seriously? Are we to believe that they don't, and haven't for a long time, had someone to do this for them, and now suddenly after 3 years of having the iphone they are just now hiring someone to handle security, which means the end of jailbreaking? I'm sure I'll get dugg down since I'm not part of the rabid anti-apple fanatics here, but come on, this is a huge stretch of a conclusion to be making.
